The new WHO map of India
The new map by World Health Organization of India has marked the newly created Union Territories of India, Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir in grey colour. Also, it has marked the disputed Aksai Chin region in grey colour with blue stripes. The blue stripes are in identical shade as that of China. The map shows India in navy blue colour.
India’s stand on the new map
India is not pleased with the new WHO map. India believes that China has a big role in the new map of World Health Organization. The influence of China on the WHO is high as the country provides huge funding to the organization.
Other recently map discrepancies of India
Recently India had tussled with Nepal and Pakistan regarding discrepancies depicted in maps.
India-Nepal map issue
In May by 2020, Nepal released a new political map that claimed regions of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura. Nepal released the map after India inaugurated a motorable link road connecting India and China. The road passes through Lipulekh pass. This region is claimed by Nepal as its own territory.
India-Pakistan map issue
In August by 2019, Pakistan also released a map that showed the geographical areas of J&K and Ladakh within its area. Also, the Gujarat’s Junagadh was shown as its own territory. The new map was released a day before the Government of India rolled back the special status of Jammu & Kashmir. Also, the it was a counter action for India’s inclusion of POk (Pakistan occupied Kashmir) as part of the Union Territory of J&K.
