Sh. Amit Shah, Union Home Minister will launch “Vriksharopan Abhiyan” on 23 July 2020. Vriksharopan Abhiyan will launched through virtually video conference in India. There are launched in 38 districts and more than 130 locations.
Vriksharopan Abhiyan mainly focus on Tree plantation creating green spaces in mined out areas.
Home Minister Abhiyan is to be launched in the presence of Shri Pralhad Joshi (Coal Minister). Mr Shah will also lay foundation stone to 6 eco parks and tourism sites in different locations.
About Eco Parks and Tourism Sites
Union Home Minister, establish tourism sites and Eco Parks in the nearby areas and provide revenues. These sites and Parks will generate revenue and also create jobs for local people.
The Scheme will be implemented by Coal Ministry. Under the scheme large number of Tree Plantation to be carried out in mines, colonies and other sustainable areas of lignite and coal public sector undertaking.
Three Public Sector Undertaking, NLCIL (NLC India Limited), Coal India Limited (CIL) and Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) have set target to achieve goal
- To cover 1,789 hectares (4420 Acre) of are under bio-reclamation
- To cover 1626 hectare (4017 Acre) under plantation
- 70 hectares (172 Acre) to create grass land
- 90 hectares (222 Acre) to create hi-tech cultivation
- 3 hectares (7 Acre) to create Bamboo plantation.
