After the successfully launched and landing UAE Mars Mission, Emirates Mars Mission or Hope, Now Emirates Space Agency announced the name of the first Female Astronaut Noura al Matroushi.
Emirates First Female Astronaut
Astronaut Noura al-Matroushi was selected as the first female for space mission of UAE from 4000 other applicants. Matroushi is to be trained with NASA for future space exploration missions. Matroushi is to be accompanied by Mohammed al-Mulla. Both astronauts are to be trained with Johnson Space Centre of NASA located in Houston, Texas.
She was born in the year 1993 and holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Emirates University. Noura al-Matroushi is currently working as an engineer at the National Petroleum Construction Company. She acted as the Vice President of the Youth Council of the company. Noura al-Matroushi is also a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Emirates Space Mission
The United Arab Emirates does not have any manned mission in near future. However, UAE has plans to send unmanned space mission to the moon in the year 2024. Also, the country has launched “Amal Satellite” to the Mars in the year 2020.
First Emirates astronaut to enter space
In the year 2019, Hazza al-Mansoori was the first Emirates astronaut to enter the space. He spent 8 days at the Space Station (ISS).
First Muslim Woman to enter space
Noura is the first Arab woman to enter space. However, the first Muslim woman to enter space was Anousheh Raissyan. She was also the first Iranian woman to enter space. She is an Iranian American telecommunications entrepreneur. In the year 2006, she paid $20 million to travel to the Space Station as a self-funded tourist.
