Union food Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal e-inaugurated the India’s first Mega Food Park in Mizoram.

Non-governmental The Zoram Food Park inaugurated in northeastern state Mizoram is to provide employment to 5,000 persons and will benefit 25,000 farmers in primary processing centre and core processing centre.

The Food park is expected to bring an yearly turn over nearly Rs 450-500 crores in about 30 food processing units.

Mega Food Park Scheme

The Mizoram first Food Park has been established under Mega Food Park Scheme by indian Govt. There are 18 mega food park projects that are under implementation and 19 mega food parks have become functional. Around 6 of these functioning mega food parks are in North East state of india.

According to, the Mega Food Park Scheme, the Govt will provide financial assistance of Rs 50,000 crores per mega food park project.


The Food Minister are promoting Mega Food Parks to give a major thrust to the Make in India initiative. This is expected to become a major contributor towards India’s target of doubling farmers’ income by 2022.
