The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi inaugurated a science festival- India International Science Festival 2020 on 22nd December virtually. This is the 6th edition of the festival and the event will be conducted from 22 to 23 December.

  • India International Science Festival aims is to celebrate the scientific and technological achievements of India with students and innovators.
  • The event is being conducted as a virtual event and all the attendees can attend the event by registering on the official website.
  • The event held under the theme ‘Science for Self-Reliant India and Global Welfare’.
  • The virtual event will also show the attendees how STEM- science, technology, engineering, and mathematics play a major role in providing solutions in our lives.
  • The 6th edition of IISF is being organized by the Department of Science and Technology, Department of Biotechnology, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, and the Indian Council of Medical Research in collaboration with Vijnana Bharati.
  • CSIR-National Institute of Science, Technology and Development Studies is the nodal institution for the event for 2020.

IISF

India International Science Festival is an annual science event that is being conducted every year by Vijana Bharati in collaboration with various ministries. The first such science festival was held in 2015. Before this, the 1st and 2nd edition was held in New Delhi; 3rd  was held in Chennai; 4th in Lucknow and 5th edition in Kolkata.
