Prakash Javadekar the Union Environment Minister hailed “KURMA” android app to track and report Indian turtles.

The KURMA mobile app was launched on World Turtle Day, 23 May this year. The mobile based android app was developed by ITCAN, The Indian Turtle Conservation Action Network was joined by Wildlife Conservation Society India. The KURMA allocate database to identify a Turtle species. App helps to detect the neighbouring rescue centre for turtles nationwide.

About ITCAN

The Indian Turtle Conservation Action Network was formed to launch citizen-science initiative. Network provides plan of action to exchange essential information on turtles species, provides assistance to enforcement agencies, forest departments, etc. Indian Turtle Conservation Action Network will also help in observing as the YEAR OF THE TURTLE 2020.

Turtle Survival Alliance

The Turtle Survival Alliance (action-oriented global partnership) was established in 2001 in partnership with the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature for sustainable management of tortoises and turtles).
