The FIFA announced that the 2022 World Cup is to be held in Qatar. The governing body also released schedule of Qatar 2020 matches.

The Qatar 2022 Federation Internationale de Football Association  World Cup will be the 1st world cup to be held in Arab countries  and also the 1st in a muslim-majority nation . The 2020 World Cup would be the last to involve 32 teams as the teams are to be increased to 48 in 2026 tournament.

The World Cup  is to be held in November-December in 2020. The final match of the tournament has been scheduled on 18 December 2020, which is also Qatar National Day.

India

India has never participated at the Federation Internationale de Football Association  World Cup. Indian National Team ranks 108 in the latest Federation Internationale de Football Association  rankings that was released last year.

The Indian Football team has participated in AFC Asian Cup and Olympics.
