Military’s research and development Organization DRDO launched an innovatory contest “Dare to Dream 2.0”. The innovative contest was launched on the death anniversary of Former President Dr Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam.
The Dare to Dream 2.0 is an open challenge that promotes innovators and start ups nationwide. It is launched to boost emerging technologies in the country. Dare to Dream 2.0 challenge promotes start ups for innovation in space technologies.
Rs 10 lakhs award money for the winners by DRDO. Dare to Dream 2.0 was launched by Raj Nath Singh Defence Minister.
Dr Abdul Kalam
Dr. Kalam was a 11th President of India. 27 July 2015, Dr Abdul Kalam died due to cardiac arrest while delivering lecture at the IIM, Shillong. Kalam hold office as President of India from 25 July 2002 – 25 July 2007. He develop ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology and also known as “Missile Man of India”.
Dr Kalam had received 7 awards.

“Youth Renaissance Day” marks Dr Kalam’s birth anniversary by Tamil Nadu Government. The Wheeler Island, renamed as Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha (a national missile testing site)
