Former United States of American Civil Rights Representative John Lewis dies at 80. John served as a long time member of the United States House of Representatives. John Lewis was a protege of Martin Luther King Jr (American minister) and kept the fight for civil and human rights until the end of his life.

He last appearance in public during protests for racial justice that swept the United States and the globally in June this year.

In 1986 John Lewis joined the Congress. John was the member of Congress from Atlanta. He represented Georgia in Congress for nearly 35 years.

Award

In 2011, Former President Barack Obama presented John Lewis with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor of United States of American.
