Indian Army recently rescued several tourists caught in a snowstorm at Nathu La on the India and China border in Sikkim.
- The Nathu La is the one of the highest motorable roads in the world. It is a mountain pass in the Himalayan peaks situated on the Indo-Tibetan border 14450 feet above sea level.
- The Nathu means ‘listening ears’, and La means ‘pass’.
- Nathu La is an open trading border post between India and China.
- The other passes located in Sikkim are Jelep La Pass, Donkia Pass, Chiwabhanjang Pass.
