In India, 4 March observed as a National Safety Day every year by the National Safety Council. For 2021, we are observing the 50th anniversary of National Safety Day. The purpose of the day is to instil a sense of safety awareness among people by providing them with safety, health and environment-related support services.
Theme for 2021 National Safety Day is “Sadak Suraksha (Road Safety)”.
The National Safety Day is also celebrated to mark the foundation of the National Safety Council, which was set up on 4th March 1966 by the Ministry of Labour. The first National Safety Day was observed in the year 1972. Additionally, the National Safety Week is celebrated from 4 to 10 March by organizing week-long safety campaigns.
