CHINA’S RECENT CLAIMS

China has given names to eighty geographical disputed South China Sea in the latest move to assert its territorial claims in the face of increasing opposition from Vietnam.

Association of Southeast Asian Nations leaders said in the statement that it was important to uphold the international law including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) 1982 Effective in 16 November 1994, Signatories 157 and to resolve disputes peacefully.The statement was passed by the core member nations Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar,
Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
