India’s largest Central Armed Police Force, Central Reserve Police Force was raised on July 27, 1939 under British India. Under Sardar Vallabhai PatelIt Govt Central Reserve Police force was changed in 1949.

This year, 82nd CRPF Raising Day is to be celebrated nationwide. The HM Amit Shah will visit the CRPF headquarters in New Delhi on 27 july. The HM will also pay homage to martyrs where a wreath will be placed in Neemuch town in the Malwa region of MP on his behalf. the first CRPF battalion was raised in Neemuch.

The Central Reserve Police Force comprises of 3.25 lakh police personnel. There are 3 main combat theatres in the Police force. CRPF mainly operate in Kashmir Valley and in North Eastern States.

Central Police Reserve Force

The CRPF is the largest armed forces in India. It operate under Home Ministry. The Crown Representative Force was made the armed forces under the CRPF Act, 1949. COBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) was added to CRPF to counter Naxalite movement In 2008. CRPF has also been deployed for international missions such as Sri Lanka, Liberia countries. They have also been sent to undertake United Nations Peacekeeping missions.
