20th February observed as a World Day of Social Justice annually around the world. The International Labour Organization (ILO) unanimously adopted the ILO Declaration on Social Justice for a Fair Globalization on 10th June 2008.
Theme for 2021 World Day of Social Justice is “A Call for Social Justice in the Digital Economy”.
- To Recognize the need to promote and tackle issues of social justice such as poverty, exclusion, gender equality, unemployment, human rights, and social protections.
- To Focus on the goal of achieving full employment and support for social integration.
- To Encourage people to look at how social justice affects poverty eradication.
The Social justice is an underlying principle for peaceful and prosperous coexistence within and among the countries. We uphold the principles of social justice when we promote gender equality or the rights of indigenous peoples and migrants. We advance social justice when we remove barriers that people face because of gender, age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture or disability.
