The “unknown pneumonia in Kazakhstan caused 1,772 deaths in the 1st 6 months of the year, including 628 people in June alone”, the Chinese embassy in the central Asian country said in a statement on its WeChat platform, adding that the fatalities also included Chinese citizens.

The China has warned, a new deadly ‘unknown pneumonia’ with death rate much higher than that of the Novel Coronavirus has been reported in Kazakhstan.

Not any announcement has been reported yet from the media houses and government of Kazakhstan. The Chinese Embassy has termed it as ‘Unknown’ but the authorities in Kazakhstan have rejected such claims and termed it as normal ‘Pneumonia’.

Saule Kisikova- Head of Kazakhstan’s capital city Nur Sultan’s Public Healthcare Department has stated in the last week of June 2020 that every day the hospitals are receiving in between 350 to 450 cases of COVID-19 patients and Pneumonia, but since 12th June, the number of cases of Pneumonia has increased within a week from 80 to 600 per day.
