Point to Note
INDBATT (Indian battalion) has position with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has won an environment award 2020 for a project that aims to decrease waste generation, reuse plastic, build greenhouses and compost pits.
2nd place award was shared by the Mission’s Sector West Headquarters for the Sector West Infrastructure Management Centre (IMC) for the generation of compost from food waste and Irish-Polish Battalion (IRISH POLBATT) for its project in supporting the host communities by reducing the environmental hazards.
French led Force Commander’s Reserve, Indonesian Battalion, Republic of Korea Battalion and Italian Battalion are the other units of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon who received the annual award and recognitions.
The UNIFIL Annual Environment Award 2020
- United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon Head of Mission and Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col gave the yearly environmental awards to 7 Missions entities for initiating and implementing innovative projects to preserve the environment.
- The environment award 2020 is presented to the individuals, United Nations positions, Branches, contingents, sections, Units that showcase leadership, innovation or activities towards improving and protecting the state of the Environment.
- The environment award 2020 was launched by United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon on December 4 last year to recognise the environmental achievements within the Mission’s area of operations.
