North-East State Nagaland declared disturbed area by Government of India. The declaration period for Nagaland for further period of six months i.e. last month of this year. Official notification released by Ministry of Home Affairs “Amit Shah” mentioned the whole Nagaland North-East State is in a disturbed and dangerous condition. He official said MHA assign the use of armed forces for “the maintenance of peace and public order”.
North-East State of India Nagaland has been put down under the coverage of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) for almost 6 decades. The AFSPA empowers the armed forces to search and arrest, and to open fire if it seems necessary for “the maintenance of public order”. According to The Disturbed Areas Act, 1976 once area declared ‘disturbed’, the area has to maintain status quo for a minimum of 3 months. AFSPA extend accoring to situation Time to Time.
